This excellent combination of wearing resistant qualities of virgin Nylon 6/6 with the antifriction capability of molybdenum disulfide creates a superior bearing and bushing material. Useful wherever lubrication is undesirable, when the part is located in a position that is difficult to service. Nylon Molybdenum disulfide resists common solvents, hydrocarbons, esters, ketones, alkalies and dilute acids. Not resistant to phenol, formic acid or concentrated mineral acids. Tested for moisture absorption using ASTM D-570 specifications: 1.2-2.5 percent when saturated over a 24-hour period; 7.5-8.5 percent maximum saturation.

Polyamide Imide (PAI) is a thermoplastic amorphous polymer that has exceptional mechanical, thermal, and chemical resistant properties. It is in the league of "Superpolymers" exhibiting temperature resistance from cryogenic to 500 F. This unique material combines properties from both polyamides and polyimides such as high strength, melt processability and it is inherently flame retardant. UL 94 ratings generally allow for FAA Aircraft Interiors due to very low smoke on ignition. Generally un affected by aliphatic and aromatic hydrocarbons, acids, bases and halogenated solvents. Applications include engine and generator components, hydraulic bushings and seals, and mechanical parts for electronics and business machines.

Polyetherimide (PEI) is an amorphous, amber-to-transparent thermoplastic with similar characteristics to PEEK's. Relative to PEEK, it is cheaper, but less temperature-resistant, and lower in impact strength. It is prone to stress cracking in chlorinated solvents. It is available under the tradename Ultem, a registered trademark of General Electric, the principal developer and manufacturer. PEI will withstand continuous temperature of 390 F under load and is rated UL 94 VO and is generally accepted by the FAA for aircraft interiors. It is soluble in partially halogenated solvents but resistant to alcohols, acids and hydrocarbon solvents. Turcite X is a fluoropolymer based material with proprietary additives for enhanced performance. It excels in low load and high speed applications, and can be easily machined. Its maximum continuous service temperature is also 180 F (80 C). Turcite X has lower friction properties than Turcite A. Typical applications include bearings, bushings and slides. It is lubricious, similar to PTFE but has more back bone.
